So Chandler was feeling very ambitious as he planned his 10th birthday party. "Mom, let's have a Survivor Party at our new house...You know with challenges and stuff!" My response "oh..uh...that sounds fun!" My thoughts "what in the world?? June 1st birthday and June 5th move in with the last week of school squeezed right in there???.....SERIOUSLY?????" The compromise....end of June birthday party with a limited amount of "challenges"....SOLD! In all honesty...despite the many unpacked boxes and very empty walls, it was a super fun party....we all had a great time!!

Challenge #1-Dig a piece of bubble gum out of a Cool-Whip pie without using your hands and blow a bubble!

Challenge #3-Making it across the pool on a 6 inch beam before you are shot with a "flaming" (Nerf) arrow by the "Natives" (Breece).
Challenge #5- Treasure chest dive....tribe members had to swim down and bring up a sunken box (10 boxes) hoping to find the treasure chest or key with the next clue.
Challenge 6- Destroy the Natives idol to locate the treasure (smash the Pinata).
Reward Challenge- everyone completed all challenges.....reward....pizza and cupcakes!

Oh how we LOVE Destin!! My sister and I have grown up going there my entire life....literally....my birth certificate is from that area:)! It has been so much fun continuing our tradition into our married lives and with our kids. Breece, Chandler and Berkley have all come to love it just as much as I do. So here is to another great Destin year full of wonderful memories:)!
We recently had the chance to help out some great friends (Glen and Melissa Cruson -Top Lawn) of ours who were working on the Extreme Home Maker in our area. Melissa and I carried flats and flats of flowers out to the house for Glen and his guys to plant (18 flats in my car to be exact:)). Once I got out there I was AMAZED.....as wonderful as the show is, I saw a very different side than I have ever seen on TV. For the most part I believed it was the cast that did so much of the work on the house....reality....it was the MANY MANY amazing volunteers that gave their time, energy and resources 24/7 in the EXTREMELY hot Texas sun for someone many of them had never met. What an example of compassion and selflessness. I am so thankful that my children and I had the opportunity to see this side of the show we love to watch.
